At minimum, bring a letter from your specialist doctor that outlines your medical history and current medications and indicates you are safe to drive a CMV (commercial motor vehicle)
You may also need to bring the results of a recent stress test, ECHO cardiogram, or other testing completed within the past 2 years
Current FMCSA guidelines require individuals who have undergone coronary artery bypass surgery to be recertified every year for 5 years, then undergo an ETT every 2 years.
Drivers who had a Pericutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) are required to have an exercise tolerance test three to six months post PCI and EVERY TWO YEARS thereafter. For symptomatic individuals or if you had an abnormal resting echocardiogram, or unable to meet requirements of the ETT a stress radionuclide or echocardiography imaging is required.
